Sometimes our lives can feel cracked, ridden with disconnection and discontent. We might feel a yearning - sometimes unwieldy and uncertain, sometimes a desire so specific it freezes us. We may recognize a time away for rest and prayer would be helpful, yet responsibilities and life demands do not allow that freedom. What if you moved into the freedom of a retreat right where you are? In your own home, in your own life, with your own prayer. What if there was someone to help you listen to your own experiences of prayer, your own experiences of God breaking into your ordinary day?
This is what ISI's Ignatian 5-day directed retreat proposes. The retreat will open with an online gathering of welcome and prayer with spiritual companions and retreatants. Spiritual companions and retreatants will be matched and agree to meet every day via zoom, facetime, or a phone call for the following five days. Retreatants commit to daily prayer, noting the movements of prayer and life, and speaking with the spiritual companion about their experience. The Ignatian spiritual companion will help you listen, supporting the discovery of the Lord's love laboring and the direction the Lord is inviting you.
ISI's spiritual companions have been formed in the Ignatian tradition and have experience in listening to prayer and life with others. The companions will commit an hour each of the five days to listen with you, the retreatant, noting signposts and perhaps offering suggestions regarding the movements you experience and the prayer you are having. These are named directed-retreats not because they offer instruction, rather because together you and your spiritual companion explore the direction the Lord is leading you. What is your direction toward a life lived abundantly?
