ISI Lenten Companion: Daily Bread for the Journey
Journey with ISI This Lent
ISI welcomes the opportunity to journey alongside you during this Lenten season. We are grateful to share a series of short daily reflections curated by Mary Cathryn and Chris Ackels. Chris serves on the ISI Board, and together they offer this resource as a gift for prayer.
Below you will find what to expect and how to participate.
How It Works
- Reflections will be brief—usually 100 words or fewer.
- Each reflection is intended to open a few quiet moments of honest conversation with the Lord.
- A new reflection will be posted daily. You will find the link to each day listed on this page below.
- If you prefer, you may use the form below to sign up to receive a daily email delivered at 7:00 a.m. (Central Time) throughout Lent.
- Emails will arrive from Chris Ackels with the subject line: “LENT:”
Suggested Practice
- We encourage you to read each reflection when you can give five simple minutes to prayer—morning, midday, or evening.
- The invitation is to deepen your relationship with the Lord, yourself, and others, through open and honest communication.
- We suggest you commit to a brief daily conversation with the Lord, maybe five minutes - maybe a bit more.
- Do what you are able to do, always remembering an important part of relationship is showing up each day. When you go to prayer, you meet the Lord who is already there waiting for you.
About the Resources
- These reflections draw from a variety of trusted spiritual voices and traditions. Along the way, we will be supported by the wisdom of the Holy Cross Brothers, Vincentians, Jesuits, Franciscans, and others across the Christian tradition.
- We do not claim ownership of these materials, nor do we present ourselves as experts. All resources will be properly identified and acknowledged. Our hope is simply to offer encouragement and support as you walk through Lent.
Please be assured of our daily prayers for you throughout this Lenten journey. We also humbly ask your prayers for us in the weeks ahead.
We are honored to pray with one another, for one another, and through one another.
